Visiting teachers try chicken embryology

August 10, 2010 –The Japanese Association of Biology Educators (JABE), representing the nation’s high school teachers, held its annual meeting from August 3 to 5 on Port Island in Kobe, near the RIKEN CDB. On the final day of the meeting, 15 teachers visited the Center to take part in a demonstration lesson involving the observation of live chicken embryos. The teachers learned simple in-class experiments, such as the extraction, culture, and microscopic observation of embryos, and gained hands-on experience with these techniques, which can be conducted in any high school classroom.
