Summary

The CDB Meeting “Diversity of Developmental Mechanisms in Invertebrates” will be held on February 2-3, 2005. This meeting will address topics in development and pattern formation and their variation in arthropods and other invertebrates. Recent studies on model organisms such as flies and mice have profoundly advanced our understanding of developmental mechanisms. However, the diversity of morphology and development in other non-standard model organisms greatly exceeds our current understanding, and the study of such models promises to generate surprising new insights. The speakers will include a number of distinguished scientists working on various invertebrate systems, and we hope that this meeting will provide a forum for the active and open exchange of ideas and stimulate further research into this largely unexplored field. Poster presentations are also being accepted and attendees are encourage to submit their work.
