Mitsuru Morimoto


Mitsuru Morimoto is the head of the RIKEN CDB Lab for Lung Development. He received his Ph.D. at 2003 from Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences. He trained in developmental biology as a postdoc with Dr. Yumiko Saga in the National Institute of Genetics, and then moved to the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in Dr. Raphael Kopan's lab, where his studies on lung organogenesis in mice began in 2006. In 2012, he was appointed to his current position and started his lab. The Mitsuru lab studies lung morphogenesis and tissue patterning, and how individual cells are coordinated to integrated the respiratory system in mouse.
