Nadia Rosenthal


Nadia Rosenthal is Founding Director of the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute at Monash University and Scientific Head of EMBL Australia. She also holds a Chair in Cardiovascular Science at Imperial College London. She obtained her Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School, where she later directed a biomedical research laboratory, and established and headed the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) campus in Rome.  She is an EMBO member, Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science, and is an NH&MRC Australia Fellow.

Prof. Rosenthal is a global leader in the use of targeted mutagenesis in animal models to investigate development, disease, and tissue repair.  Her research focuses on the role of growth factors, stem cells and the immune system in the resolution of tissue injury for applications to regenerative medicine. She has received numerous honorary doctorates, participates on prestigious advisory boards and committees including the European Research Council. She is a Founding Editor of Disease Models and Mechanisms, Editor-in-Chief of Differentiation and a new Nature Partner Journal, Regenerative Medicine. She is currently transiting to The Jackson Laboratory (US), where she serves as Scientific Director.
