Hiroshi Sasaki

Hiroshi Sasaki is a Professor of Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences at Osaka University. Dr. Sasaki received his B.Sc. in zoology from the University of Tokyo, and his master's and Ph.D. in developmental biology from the same institution. He worked as a research associate in Atsushi Kuroiwa's group at Tohoku University (1990-1992), and in Brigid Hogan's lab at Vanderbilt University (1992 -1994). After returning to Japan, Dr. Sasaki started studies on early mouse embryogenesis by focusing on signaling centers as an assistant professor of Osaka University (1995-2002), and extended his research to Hippo signaling and cell competition as a team leader of RIKEN CDB (2002-2010), and a professor of Kumamoto University (2010-2015). His current research interest is to understand how cells compare their conditions with their neighbors, and coordinate their behaviors in embryos.
