Alex P. Gould

Alex Gould obtained his first degree in Natural Sciences and his DPhil, on Hox gene functions, from the University of Cambridge. Postdoc research, supported by a Beit Memorial Fellowship, was on Hox gene regulation at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research in Mill Hill. He later started his own research group there and subsequently established the Division of Physiology and Metabolism. In 2015, he became a Senior Group Leader at The Francis Crick Institute in London. Alex Gould is a recipient of the Hooke Medal of the British Society for Cell Biology. He is also a Wellcome Trust Investigator, a fellow of EMBO, and a fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. His laboratory focuses on understanding how developing animals cope with environmental challenges such as malnutrition and oxidative stress.
