Ichiro Hiratani


Ichiro Hiratani received his B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Tokyo and his Ph.D. from the same institution for his work on Xenopus embryonic development with Masanori Taira. He moved to the United States for his postdoctoral training with David Gilbert at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University and later in Florida State University to study the developmental regulation of DNA replication timing and nuclear genome organization. After a brief period as an assistant professor at the National Institute of Genetics, he was appointed to his current position as Team Leader at the RIKEN CDB in 2013. His laboratory focuses on how the 3-dimensional organization of the genome changes during early embryonic stages.
