Noriyuki Satoh received his Ph. D. from the University of Tokyo in 1974 for studies of sex differentiation in medaka. He has served consecutively as a lecturer, associate professor and professor in the University of Kyoto, Department of Zoology from 1973 to present. He is a member of numerous national and international developmental biology and zoological societies. He is the editor of Development Genes and Evolution, the editor of Zygote, the associate editor of Molecular and Developmental Evolution (J. Exptl. Zool., part B), the former editor-in-chief of Zoological Science, and serves on the editorial boards of Development, Developmental Biology, Evolution and Development, and Mechanisms of Development.
