| Miguel ManzanaresMiguel Manzanares studied Biology in the Autónoma University of Madrid
and obtained his Ph.D. working on comparative genetics of embryonic segmentation
in crustaceans. He then joined Robb Krumlauf’s group at the MRC NIMR in
London during six years, where he worked on the role of Hox genes in patterning
of the vertebrate nervous system, as well as studying the evolution of
the neural crest. When returning to Madrid, he joined Angela Nieto’s group
at the Cajal Institute (CSIC) to work on the role of Snail genes in patterning
and evolution of the neural crest. In 2001 he established his own research
group devoted to the study of evolutionary novelties and the functional
analysis of genome regulation and evolution. He was elected member of the
EMBO-YIP programme in 2003, and in late 2007 he joined the Department of
Cardiovascular Developmental and Repair at the Spanish National Cardiovascular
Research Center. His research group is interested in gene regulatory networks
and genomic mechanisms involved in development, evolution and disease. BACK | |
