Pierre Léopold

Pierre Leopold graduated from the University of Nice, and trained Drosophila Genetics and Development as a post-doc with P.H. O’Farrell at UCSF, San Francisco. He then obtained a CNRS starting grant to return to France where he created his group. Since 2000, he has an appointment at the University of Nice as a Research Director for the National Institut of Heath and Medical Research (INSERM). Over the recent years, he has developed a research interest for the control of tissue growth using Drosophila as a model. His work has primarily focused on the understanding of systemic mechanisms allowing an adaptation of the growth program to the environment (nutrition). More recently, his lab has brought evidence for the importance of organ-organ communication in the determination of final organ size.
