In addition to the generous research budget given each lab, the CDB provides its scientists with the material and technical support required to optimize their research efforts. On-site services include production of custom knockout and transgenic mice, gene sequencing and electron microscopy, and a wide array of imaging, histology, genomic analysis and molecular biology equipment is available for common use by the entire research staff. The Center is organized to afford maximum independence at the individual laboratory level and the atmosphere is one of innovative and international collaboration and collegiality. And, of course, all necessary communications can be conducted in English, and support services are available for non-Japanese-speakers.
